What is the meaning of Hackathon?

A combination of the words “hack” and marathon – a hackathon is an event with a specific focus during which people in the technology, social & digital media and adjacent industries collaborate to create solutions to specific challenges. You don’t have to be a coder to participate. People with varied technical and media backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea in the city, and collaboratively develop a unique solution with a lasting impact.

What is Unique about #HACK Pune?

#HACK Pune gathers technologists, digital and social media creatives and students/professionals with a desire to take the gospel to new people, new places and new spaces. As a volunteer led event, it offers participants an opportunity to meet the needs of the mission, the church and society on a local scale across the city and also on a global scale. We learn from one another, make new friends, and create Kingdom impact through an innovation sprint over the weekend.

Who all can participate in it?

#HACK Pune welcomes anyone who wants to collaborate on mission-focused, technology projects with long-term impact in the city. You don’t have to be a coder to get involved. We need designers, photographers, writers, project managers, social media gurus – creative thinkers! The most important skill is the ability to work as a team and find ways to problem-solve. Also, while #HACK Pune is explicitly Christian, participants from any (or no) faith background are welcomed warmly.
