What’s the problem?
In moments of crisis like grief, job loss, anxiety, family breakdown, many believers struggle to connect the truths they’ve learned in church or theology classes with their actual emotions, decisions, and responses. While biblical content may be known, its application feels distant, theoretical, or irrelevant during painful real-life moments. Sermons are often forgotten, Bible study notes stay in notebooks, and faith can feel powerless in the face of uncertainty or suffering. There’s a gap between the knowledge of God and the experience of His presence when life gets messy.
Why is this a problem?
- Faith becomes compartmentalized: People “believe” but don’t know how to live out their faith in the storm.
- Theology feels impractical: Concepts like grace, sovereignty, or lament stay in abstract form rather than guiding real decisions.
- Emotions remain disconnected: Believers may suppress pain or feel guilt for struggling, because they think mature Christians shouldn’t feel overwhelmed.
- The Church loses relevance: Without equipping believers for real-life crises, churches risk being seen as inspirational but not transformational.
What happens if we don’t solve this?
- Believers experience a faith-life disconnect, leading to spiritual confusion or disillusionment.
- The Church becomes known more for its doctrine than its discipleship.
- People walk away in times of crisis, feeling the gospel isn’t enough.
- The next generation grows up with information but not transformation.
