What’s the problem?
In recent months, various districts across Maharashtra including Pune have witnessed a rise in false accusations against Christians regarding forced religious conversions. While Christian leaders, pastors, and communities have submitted memorandums and organized peaceful protests, these actions often remain fragmented and ineffective due to lack of follow-up, clarity, and coordination. There is no unified system to equip believers with legal awareness, media literacy, or a biblical framework to respond in love while standing firm in truth. Christian communities tend to be either passive or reactionary rather than proactive, wise, and publicly redemptive.
Why is this a problem?
- Vulnerability to manipulation: Lack of legal knowledge makes it easy for opponents to misuse laws and exploit fear.
- Fragmentation within the Church: Without a united front, efforts get diluted and appear disorganized or defensive.
- Media misrepresentation: Opposing narratives dominate online and mainstream platforms, painting a skewed picture of Christian outreach.
- Fear and silence: Many believers and churches operate in fear and silence.
What happens if we don’t solve this?
- Misinformation spreads influencing public opinion and policy against Christian communities.
- Believers retreat into silence, avoiding gospel outreach out of fear of legal consequences.
- Youth grow cynical or disengaged, believing that public faith is unsafe or unwise.
- Churches suffer legal harassment, without the tools or networks to respond strategically.
